Our Story

The idea for this product was ignited in November 2020 when the Founder, Holly Beingessner, was completing her degree in Interior Design and minor in Business Essentials at Ryerson University and encountered an unexpected turn in her path. Holly’s building had a destructive electrical fire, leaving Holly and other residents with nowhere to sleep or live. When the alarm went off, Holly and her roommates did not think it was real. Even when they saw smoke and finally left the building, they did not believe it was severe and did not grab anything.

The day after the fire, they were allowed to go into the building for an hour to grab a few things. It then made Holly think about what she wished she had grabbed. What are her essentials? She had probiotics in the fridge, and since it was an electrical fire, the power was cut out immediately, resulting in them losing all their food. Holly was able to grab her probiotics, but they did not even have a cooler or ice packs. Holly then thought about those who need refrigerated medication to survive.

She thought about what she would have done if this happened to her family home, where her mother lives, who has been diagnosed with breast cancer for the third time and is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

She thought about her experience volunteering in Pokhara, Nepal, two years ago, helping with the aftermath of an earthquake. What do people less fortunate than her do in such situations?

Holly chose to find the positive in the situation, used her skills and experience, and changed her thesis project to design a product that helps decrease the stress, loss, and trauma due to unexpected emergencies. After her semester was over, Holly continued developing her product and joined the Fashion Zone in March 2021. At the end of August 2021, Holly completed and won the top pitch of the eight-week incubator program called the “Ryerson Innovation Student Experience (RISE).” Now Holly is continuing her business with the support of the Fashion Zone as her Home Zone and co-zoning with the Biomedical Zone.
